v.n. of dearlaigim, dearlaighim, dearlaicim, I bestow. Gs. dearlaghaidh, 1524. The forms with -gh- are apparently due to an assimilation of dearlaigim to the denominative group in -aighim. Forms with -c- from tiodhlaicim (?); cf. anacal, anaghal.
